Katie King Peterson

My name is Katie King Peterson, and I'm very proud to serve on the Arts Council board.

My husband Zach and I have one son, Matthew, and I recently became a stay-at-home mom.

I was born and raised in Aberdeen and benefited from the many arts opportunities our city has to offer. In addition to my involvement with the arts at Roncalli High School, I graduated from Johnny Cavelle School of Dance, volunteered with the Aberdeen Community Theatre, and was a member of Storybook Land Theatre. My experiences in theatre and dance not only taught me confidence and discipline, but also gave me friendships, an outlet for my creativity and a greater appreciation for all art.

My parents always encouraged me to take advantage of the arts opportunities in our community, and I want to do the same for my children. The Arts Council wants to insure that the quality of life in Aberdeen that I enjoyed as a child remains for my children and grandchildren. Being a volunteer board member is just my small way of giving back to the arts community that gave me so much.
