I teach history at Presentation College, where I also serve as the director for the Wein Art Gallery. As a member of the Aberdeen community for nearly thirty years, I enjoy the great variety of arts programming that is available. Aberdeen and its neighboring communities are extremely fortunate to have the Aberdeen Area Arts Council provide such an active role in promoting the arts in so many ways. Whether the Aberdeen Area Arts Council is sponsoring a major event or co-sponsoring an arts program with other organizations, its mission sstatement reflects its valuable role in the community, which is to enhance the quality of life through the Arts by initiating, sponsoring, and encouraging art opportunities and promoting the Arts through education in the Aberdeen area. Although I share a great appreciation for the arts programming sponsored by the Aberdeen Area Arts Council, I am especially proud of its educational outreach programs that touch numerous students every year. In addition, the Aberdeen Area Arts Council is truly a driving force in developing an appreciation for cultural diversity in the region.
