Aberdeen Area Arts Council

Kati Bachmayer

I am a born and raised Aberdonian, who graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. I received my B.S. in English at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and moved back to Aberdeen after graduation. Since moving back, I have worked for U.S. Senator Tim Johnson in his Aberdeen state service office for 9 years.

I have been very involved in the arts from a young age- definitely a born performer. In the Aberdeen school system I was involved in choir, show choir, band, jazz band and theater. I was also fortunate to travel with the Midwest Ambassadors of Music European Tour playing oboe in high school, and am a Johnny Cavelle School of Dance graduate. During my college years, I participated in Aberdeen Community Theatre's summer musicals and to date I have performed in 13 ACT shows and helped with many others.

Being so involved in the Aberdeen arts scene helped shape me into the person I am today. It was wonderful to have so many arts programs available, and I want to make sure those opportunities remain for future generations. Which is why I am excited to be serving on the Arts Council Board. This organization helps expose both young and old to a wide variety of arts programs, and I'm happy to be a small part of that.
