Joel Pierson talks about The Queen’s Cartoonists’ upcoming trip to Aberdeen.

What can I say about our upcoming trip to South Dakota? Clearly the best Dakota. Certainly the only Dakota I’ve ever wanted to visit. I’m bringing 6 other New Yorkers with me, and only one of them has ever seen the wind-swept plains of the Dakotas (and yes, he was in the SOUTH!). And while he’s a little less excited about the driving, overall morale is HIGH!

One of the reasons we wanted to work the performing arts circuit was to get the chance to visit places we hadn’t before. And this trip is a fulfillment of that wish! I have a band member from Australia and one from Bulgaria – both of whom never thought they would get to see so much of America! And another thing… since this concert got on the books I reconnected with an old friend who lives in Aberdeen! I had no idea, but that’s one more reason that we are looking forward to this trip.

I hope all your Dakotans have a good sense of humor because we like our concerts to be fun and laid-back – even if the music is a bit manic! I’m no comedian but I do tell some jokes on stage. Consider this your warning! And you’ll get to see lots of cartoons. Bring the whole family – we play music for all generations 🙂

About the Author

Joel Pierson has made a career out of music and mockery, or perhaps a mockery of his career in music. He has worked with artists of great repute (the New York Philharmonic, the Kronos Quartet), and artists of even greater ill-repute (Linkin Park, Ke$ha). Wayne Newton told Joel he loved him, and Paul McCartney gave him a back rub. He has performed on all seven continents (yes, even Antarctica), and as a songwriter was signed to Warner Brothers Records. His music has been performed by major symphony orchestras including Atlanta, Houston, Toronto, Cleveland, & The Philly Pops. Joel wrote additional music for the 2013 film The Internship, and is the author of the books You Suck at Piano & 20 Piano Pieces for People with Emotional Problems.
