Formed in 2012 and based in Sioux Falls, JAS Quintet features the classic jazz instrumentation of trumpet, saxophone, piano, bass, and drums. Their repertoire spans a diverse mix of old and new jazz, including original compositions and arrangements by band members. Their concerts showcase favorites from legends like Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Thelonious Monk, and Duke Ellington, along with contemporary pieces and new jazz classics. Recognized as some of the finest jazz musicians and educators in the region, JAS Quintet has earned a reputation as one of the top jazz ensembles through extensive performances across South Dakota, particularly as part of the South Dakota Arts Council’s Touring Artist program.
