Fall brings about so many changes. School and all of those activities start, getting back into a “routine”, dance and art classes start, parents maybe experiencing the empty nest and nature provides us with daily changes in our scenery.
Here at the Arts Council we are also going through changes. We are super excited about our brand new website. Let us know what you think about it. Dawn Sahli, who has been the Administrative Assistant for the past six years, left that position. She started back to school two years ago for her elementary education degree and is student teaching this fall. We miss seeing her around the office every day. We are currently looking to fill that position.
The Aberdeen Area Arts Council will be 50 years old this year. Many things have changed since the first official meeting of the council on October 28, 1967. One thing has not changed – the arts are AWESOME and play a very important role in everyone’s life.
I challenge you to go through a day without having any contact with the arts – don’t listen to any music or turn on the TV, the clothes you wear were created by a designer, the billboards you see on your way to work or school were designed by a graphic designer, the building you go into work was designed by an architect, the book you read was written by an author, the food you eat in a restaurant was prepared by someone who has studied culinary art. As you can see, it is extremely difficult, if not nearly impossible, to not have the arts be a part of your daily life.
I hope that you have a wonderful fall that is full of positive changes. Let art be a part of those changes.
